Catasauqua man charged in Election Day explosive device incident now accused of harassing person who testified in case

A Catasauqua man already charged in connection with an explosive device thrown near a polling place during the May primary is now facing new charges.

State police say back in May, an explosive device detonated near a Catasauqua voting location. Authorities later charged Jack Pletz and his father, Matthew, after investigators say they found 17 additional homemade explosives inside their truck.

According to court documents, a search of Pletz’s home turned up ammo and a shotgun with no serial number. Police say forensic teams matched a print found on the gun directly to Jack, leading to additional firearm charges in July.

Court records show a slew of new charges were filed this week against Jack Pletz, including driving with a suspended or revoked license.

The most significant new charge involves the alleged harassment of a neighbor who testified against Pletz during his July 22 preliminary hearing.
