Operation Washout: Feds announce arrests of nearly 100 fugitives

BALTIMORE MD- Operation Washout resulted in the arrests of 95 violent fugitives and wanted gang members in Maryland during the month of May, the U.S. Marshals Service announced Friday.
Federal, state and local law enforcement partnered to focus on specific areas impacted by gang-related violence. Investigators used multiple task forces to arrest fugitives in the state.
“Through coordination and partnership, more than 90 violent fugitives have been taken off the streets as part of Operation Washout,” United States Attorney Erek L. Barron said. “Reducing violent crime remains a top priority of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and we will continue to work with our partners and use every tool available to hold accountable those who commit violent crime.”
Among the 95 arrests, officers seized 10 firearms, 78 grams of crack cocaine, 72 pounds of marijuana and six grams of heroin.
“As a result of this operation, the following arrests were made among others, 17 homicide arrests 16 attempted murder arrests, 19 robbery arrests, and 19 first-degree assault arrests,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said.
The operation began on May 1 and ended on May 26.
