Member of the ‘1800 Boys’ Gang Faces 24 Charges Relating to Drug Sales and Murder.
A defendant stood before a Baltimore City Circuit Court judge on July 24 to schedule his trial in connection to the murder of Marquis Carter in 2022.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn, Dayvonta Mackey and his attorney, Amanda Savage, who stood in for Benjamin Charlton, scheduled a motions hearing for Oct. 30. Judge Phinn also reiterated his trial date as Dec. 4. Both hearings are scheduled before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.
Mackey, 28, is facing 24 charges relating to his gang activity, distribution of narcotics, murder, use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm.
According to the WMAR, Mackey was a member of the ‘1800 Boys’, a gang organization that operated an open-air drug market on the 1800 block of Wilkens Avenue. He worked as a street-level distributor for the organization. The gang facilitated the sale of heroin, cocaine, fentanyl and more. Mackey was responsible for the Nov. 2022 murder of Carter. Mackey is accused of shooting Carter as a result of a dispute over the organization’s drug territory to prevent Carter from selling there.
