Driver arrested after car hits several pedestrians in Melbourne CBD

A driver has been arrested after a car ran into pedestrians in Melbourne’s CBD.

Police say a vehicle struck several pedestrians before colliding with two vehicles near Russell and Bourke streets about 6pm.

Paramedics were called to a report of “a car versus pedestrians” a police statement said.

“At this stage it appears five people have been assessed,” the statement said.

“One person has been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.

“Two people have been taken to the Alfred in a stable condition.
