Man convicted of 2017 gang-related murder in Tulare County.

Tulare County jury found 25-year-old gang member Jermon Jackson guilty of murder and multiple violent crimes from 2017 to 2019.

Police said Jackson and other gang members were responsible for a drive-by shooting at an apartment complex in Ivanhoe on April 19, 2017.

They say they fired shots at rival gang members in the parking lot, wounding one.

Three days later Jackson and two other gang members were driving when they spotted a suspected rival gang member walking in Ivanhoe.

They circled the block and shot and killed him.

Jackson was involved in another drive-by at a residence in Farmersville on Dec. 28, 2019.

Nobody was hit but the gunfire caused property damage.

Detectives used cell phones, witness accounts, ballistic evidence, and prior contacts with Jackson to identify and arrest him for the crimes.

Last Wednesday, the jury convicted Jackson of murder, two counts of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and three counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

The jury found true the special circumstance of drive-by murder and the special allegations including that the crimes were violent, employed planning and sophistication, that a firearm was used, and the crimes caused great bodily injury.

In a separate verdict on Friday, the jury convicted Jackson of two counts of criminal gang conspiracy, the special circumstance of street gang murder, and found true that numerous crimes were committed to benefit a criminal street gang.
