Trial of accused London terrorist Nathaniel Veltman begins Monday
Two years after a Muslim family was killed in an attack allegedly motivated by extremist views associated with white supremacy, the trial for the man accused in their murders is set to begin.
Nathaniel Veltman, 22, is scheduled to appear in Windsor Superior Court Monday on four counts of terrorism-motivated first-degree murder and one count of terrorism-motivated attempted murder, stemming from the June 6, 2021, attack at a London, Ont., intersection. He has pleaded not guilty.
Veltman is accused of deliberately jumping the curb with his truck and running down Salman Afzaal, 46, Madiha Salman, 44, their daughter Yumna, 15, and Salman’s mother Talat, 74, in what police have called an intentional act motivated by hate.
