Border Patrol Arrests Thousands of Illegals Linked to Terrorism
Thousands of illegal immigrants from the Middle East and Central Asia have been apprehended attempting to cross the U.S. southern border.
A “special interest country” is subject to travel warnings by the U.S. State Department due to terrorism.
More than 2.8 million migrants have had encounters with authorities so far in 2023. This is already higher than the 2.7 million migrants encountered in 2022.
The data show a rise of “special interest aliens” from Afghanistan (6,386), Egypt (3,153), Iran (659), Syria (538), Uzbekistan (12,264), Turkey (30,830), Pakistan (1,163), Lebanon (164), Jordan (185), Iraq (123), and Mauritania (15,594).
These encounters occurred between October 2021 and October 2023.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed these individuals could pose “a national security risk to the United States or its interests.”
