Buxton man found guilty of social media threats against Jewish community

A jury convicted a Buxton man on Thursday of threatening to kill Jewish people in a 2021 Twitter post.

Brian Dennison, 27, was found guilty of transmitting a threatening interstate communication. The verdict came after a three-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court in Portland.

According to evidence presented during the trial, Dennison posted on Twitter on September 8, 2021, “I’m going to kill Jews with my AR-15 tomorrow.”

After getting a search warrant for Dennison’s house in Buxton, FBI investigators found approximately 1,700 rounds of ammunition that could be fired from an AR-15-style rifle.

Investigators also found evidence that Dennison had a long-standing animus toward Jewish people.

Federal officials searched his house again in October 2021 and found an AR-15-style rifle and ammunition in a case that had been hidden in the woods behind his home.
