Las Vegas teen arrested for terroristic threats linked to ISIS, explosive components found at home

On Nov. 28, 2023, Las Vegas police identified a terroristic threat made on a social media platform. The threat involved a suspect claiming he was planning an attack in Las Vegas in furtherance to support the Islamic State terrorist organization, also known as ISIS.

Upon discovering this threat, a joint investigation between the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the LVMPD Counterterrorism section was initiated. Within hours, a local 16-year-old juvenile was identified as the suspect. Enough evidence was gathered to execute an arrest and search warrant of his residence.

LVMPD SWAT served the warrant, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The search of his residence revealed numerous items of concern to include terrorism propaganda and indications that the suspect intended to commit an act of terrorism, including instructions and components for building an explosive device.
