UCF student arrested for alleged threat to shoot 3 Jewish students during school event
The University of Central Florida Police Department is investigating an alleged threat made during a UCF Office of Student Involvement-approved pro-Israel free expression event on Tuesday.
According to UCFPD, a Palestinian-American student named Seif Asi approached a table of Jewish students participating in the event and engaged in a one to two-minute “heated conversation.”
Once Asi walked away, one of the students ran to a marked patrol car and was visibly scared, police said. According to the student, Asi had threatened to shoot them with a gun.
When police stopped Asi, he told them he was Palestinian and he has family in Palestine. He then told police he was tired of seeing Jewish supporters on the UCF campus and complained about a pro-Israel march that had happened last week. Asi said he saw the same group of students at that march, and it made him upset when he saw them setting up their table on Tuesday.
