New details emerge from case of man accused of setting off explosive devices near downtown Colorado Springs: Affidavit
Supplies from Home Depot and a book titled “Fireworks Cookbook” helped Edward Kiley allegedly extend a decade-plus set of crimes involving homemade explosive devices, according to arrest records obtained by The Gazette.
Colorado Springs police said Kiley, 69, set off a homemade explosive device outside of a business in late January.
Kiley was arrested on Jan. 23 on suspicion of causing an explosion the evening of Jan. 12 at a Colorado Springs business at 548 E. Costilla Street, located just east of the city’s downtown area.
An arrest affidavit obtained by The Gazette said an employee of Colorado Springs Wholesale Florist told authorities that security camera footage had captured an explosion occurring overnight in the parking lot of the establishment and that four of the business’s windows had been broken overnight.
