Prophetstown man gets 5 years for trying to burn down planned Danville abortion clinic
A Prophetstown man has been sentenced to five years in prison for his attempt last May to burn down a building in Danville that was set to become an abortion clinic.
U.S. District Judge Colin Bruce handed down the sentence Monday to Philip J. Buyno, 73, after he pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to attempted arson.
Federal authorities said around 4:30 a.m. May 20, Buyno rammed a Volkswagen loaded with firewood, tires and gasoline into the front entrance of a future reproductive health clinic in the 600 block of North Logan Avenue.
