Saginaw surgeon faces threat of terrorism charge for alleged threats to medical staff
A Saginaw County surgeon was arrested Tuesday night after leaving a hospital as he is accused of making threats to medical staff members.
The incident where he made this alleged threat happened back in January.
Court papers indicate he became upset after a piece of equipment malfunctioned and then threatened to kill medical staff.
The court papers also indicate a similar incident happened in 2022.
Police say 37-year-old doctor Omar Marar was still in his scrubs when he was arraigned via Zoom in a Saginaw County Courtroom.
The surgeon is with CMU Health. He was arrested as he was leaving Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw on Tuesday.
Marar is accused of threatening medical staff at Ascension St. Mary’s in Saginaw back on Jan. 8.
