Sheriff: Man arrested after live explosive devices found near Taylorsville church

A man was arrested after two live explosive devices were found close to Millersville Baptist Church and related educational buildings in Taylorsville, according to the sheriff.

Officers were called to a home on Fowler Hill Road across from the Millersville Child Development, which is part of the church, around 9:19 p.m. Sunday. The call came in for stolen property, but when officers searched the area, they found a possible explosive device.

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called in to help access the device.

The church’s staff was contacted because of the proximity of the device to their buildings. Millersville Child Development Center and Millersville Christian Academy announced a two-hour delay at first.
