Austin drag brunch canceled after bomb threat

An Austin drag brunch and pride market was canceled Saturday after organizers received a threat.

On social media, the Brewtorium Brewery said it was closed for the rest of Saturday due to a bomb threat citing the drag show. The rest of the “Legendary Drag Brunch and Market” event was also canceled.

The north Austin brewery said police searched and did not find anything suspicious.

“It breaks our hearts that this kind of thing still exists,” the business said on social media.

The brewery and Las Ofrendas planned a Legendary Drag Brunch and Pride Market that included brunch, drinks, music, a vendor market and a drag show, according to event details.

“The event presenter had to get up and tell all of us, hey I am really sorry, but we don’t want to flip a coin here and make the wrong decision and keep people here in a situation that might not be safe,” said Jacob Hartwell, who was inside during the event. “I had seen a couple of cops milling around outside and I knew they had swept the building a couple of times.”
