New York man charged with weapon of mass destruction threat at Charleston, SC airport

A New York man and self-proclaimed internet “troll” was arrested Saturday at the Charleston International Airport for telling police he “had a bomb and a strap” in his possession, an incident report states. A “strap” is a slang term for a firearm.

Thomas Anthony Brienza, 20, of Centereach, New York, was charged with possession or threatened use of a weapon of mass destruction, online jail records show.

An incident report states Brienza approached officers at the airport and told them he didn’t want any problems but he had a bomb and firearm. He also reportedly told police he had fentanyl in the car parked outside.

When asked if he was recording the incident on his glasses, Brienza told the officers he was recording content for his YouTube channel and that he “didn’t really have a bomb,” the incident report states.

While being questioned, Brienza told officers he has a TikTok account and YouTube channel where he goes to different locations and pranks police officers, gas station attendants, and other people he comes across.
