Man arrested for threatening to commit ‘mass violence’ in South Texas, officials say

A man has been arrested after threatening to commit “mass violence” in Wilson County.

On Sept. 8, the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office received a call to perform a welfare check on a resident who lives in the 100 block of Circle Six Drive in La Vernia. It was reported he had made calls to two different Comal County hotlines threatening to commit an act of mass violence.

The man was identified by authorities as Jonnie Carville. When they responded to perform the welfare check, Carville was allegedly uncooperative and “made it clear that he had a disdain for law enforcement” and would “only speak to the deputies on scene through a window.” Other family members at the residence only made the situation worse and deputies were unable to take any further action at that time.

A follow-up investigation unveiled Carville allegedly had access to a plethora of firearms, having posted several videos on social media “expressing his dislike for law enforcement and other public officials,” sheriff’s office said.
