Pittsburgh resident accused of attempting to join foreign terrorist group; Facing charges

A man is facing charges after allegedly lying to the FBI regarding involvement with a foreign terrorist organization.

A statement from the U.S. Attorney for the Western Pennsylvania District said Monday that 24-year-old Jack Molloy of Upper St. Clair was arrested after lying to FBI agents during an investigation involving international terrorism in late October.

The release said Molloy had traveled to Lebanon in August of this year with a desire to join Hezbollah, a foreign terrorist organization.

Molloy appeared to face difficulty, the release said, later travelling to Syria in October in an “effort to contact the Syrian branch of Hezbollah.”

“The affidavit further alleges that Molloy also supported and idolized violence and wanted to kill Jews, as evidenced by multiple images and videos on his electronic devices and the names he chose as his monikers for his social media and email accounts,” the release read.
