Proud Boys’ Tarrio testifies for D.C. police officer in leak trial
Former Proud Boys chairman Henry “Enrique” Tarrio testified Thursday as a star defense witness in the federal leak trial of a D.C. police intelligence officer, denying prosecutors’ claim the officer told him in advance that a warrant had been issued for his arrest two days before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
The testimony during the trial’s fourth day from the man serving the longest prison sentence for the Capitol riot was meant to counter a core government allegation against former lieutenant Shane Lamond, who is charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements in connection with the alleged leak. Lamond’s lawyers say he was simply doing his job as an intelligence officer.
