FBI investigates Wando student’s reported online ties to ISIS sympathizers

A Wando High School student was questioned on Jan. 8 after FBI agents said approximately two years worth of ISIS propaganda research and communication was discovered, according to a police report.

The incident report states that FBI agents came to the school to meet with SRO’s after the student was reported looking at the terrorist organization’s websites and chatrooms.

Reportedly, the juvenile had been in contact with other individuals online who are also ISIS sympathizers, and interacted with videos depicting extreme violence and lectures from ISIS extremists, according to the report.

When questioned, the student claimed that they were doing research for a school project.

According to the report, there are no current threats to the school or any individual at this time and no charges were filed.
