FORMER ISIS SWEDISH NATIONAL TO BE CHARGED FOR KILLING JORDANIAN PILOT
Swedish prosecutors have requested the pre-trial detention of Osama Krayem for his alleged involvement in the 2014 murder of a Jordanian pilot in Syria.
The 32-year-old Krayem is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence in France. In 2023, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in Brussels for his role in the 22 March 2016 attacks.
A Jordanian Air Force plane was shot down on 24 December 2014. Members of the Islamic State (IS) terror organisation captured the pilot near Raqqa in central Syria.
The pilot was reportedly locked in a cage and burned alive. His execution was filmed and the footage was widely disseminated.
Krayem is originally from Malmö, Sweden. He joined IS in Syria in 2014 but later returned to Europe.
