WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital enhances security measures due to phone threats, officials say
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is still under enhanced security measures after receiving what were believed to be credible threats to staff and the hospital.
The facility, located on Gettys Street in Gettysburg, implemented the enhanced security measures around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the threats were made over the phone, and they identified the person who called.
Officers met with him, and he is cooperating.
Police said there were no crimes committed.
A hospital spokesperson said the hospital continues to run and accept all patients.
WellSpan released the following statement regarding the incident:
“The safety and security of our patients and staff is at all times our No. 1 priority.
“As such, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital did implement enhanced security measures as of approximately 9:30 a.m. due to a potential security threat.
