Prince George’s County bomb squad defuses homemade pipe bomb in storage unit
Authorities were working Wednesday night to defuse an explosive device found inside a storage unit on Suitland Road in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, prompting road closures and a large emergency response, officials said.
The Prince George’s County Fire Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene at 4410 Suitland Road, where the device was discovered. Officials also confirmed a police presence at 4414 Suitland Road as part of the response.
The Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesperson said Wednesday night that there was no immediate threat to people or property and that no explosion has occurred.
Emergency responders confirmed the situation in a series of updates on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Explosive device investigation, 4414 Suitland Rd. PGFD Bomb Squad on scene. Expect road closures and emergency vehicles in the vicinity,” the Prince George’s County Fire Department posted Wednesday afternoon.
