Robert Crimo III pleads guilty in Highland Park parade shooting

Robert Crimo III is pleading guilty in the Highland Park 4th of July Parade shooting.

The change in plea comes as opening statements were set to begin in the trial Monday.

Robert Crimo III is accused of planning and carrying out the mass shooting during Highland Park’s Fourth of July Parade in 2022, killing seven people and injuring dozens of others. The victims range in age from eight to 88 years old.

Crimo pleaded guilty to all 21 counts of first-degree murder, three counts for each person killed along with dozens of attempted murder charges.

A sentencing is scheduled to take place on April 23.
