Security recommendations for PA Governor’s Residence were not implemented before arson attack
Several dozen kids searched for easter eggs two days after Easter in an event that was delayed by an arsonist’s attack on the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence, but it was not derailed.
“To see the smiles on these kids’ faces just brings such joy after obviously a really emotional week or so,” said Governor Josh Shapiro at the event on Tuesday.
Like those kids, investigators are searching for answers about security breakdowns and needed fixes. Governor Shapiro says he trusts state police and former State Police Commissioner Jeff Miller, who announced a third party evaluation to identify what went wrong and get it right.
“Obviously, some systems are going to need to change here, particularly at the Governor’s Residence,” said Shapiro. “They’ll present their findings to us, and it’ll be a collaborative process then as well.”
