Wildfires Add to Syria’s Scars
Syria has been scarred by six days of wildfires that have scorched more than 14,000 hectares — land roughly the size of Washington, D.C.
Emergency crews have been drafted from across Syria to tackle wildfires in rural Latakia. The White Helmets have been hampered by the rugged terrain, as well as mines and unexploded ordnance remaining from Syria’s civil war.
