Woman convicted of making threats of mass violence to WNC community college event

A woman has been convicted of making false threats of mass violence to a community college in Western North Carolina.

On Oct. 18 and 19, 2023, Isothermal Community College received two calls threatening a shooting if a “Paint the Campus Blue” event, scheduled for Oct. 21, proceeded. The threats caused the event to be cancelled.

Staff at the college contacted the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and investigators quickly identified Danielle Parker Gossett of Marion as the suspect.

Gossett was charged with felony criminal offenses related to the threats.
