Oak Ridge woman facing terrorism charge after animal shelter threatened
Court records allege that an Oak Ridge woman threatened to bomb an animal shelter because she believed it killed animals.
Kathryn Watson, 65, was charged with the commission of an act of terrorism after an incident on Sunday.
At 5:55 p.m. on August 16, a police officer went to the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter on Belgrade Road after receiving a report that a woman had threatened to bomb it, court records said. A witness told the officer that the woman had driven into the parking lot, nearly hitting a dog, before threatening to blow the witness’s “brains out.”
The woman called the animal shelter employees “butchers,” threatened to kill them, then said “They need to blow this place up,” because she believed it was a “kill” shelter, the witness said. According to court records, the woman also said, “I’m blowing you all up.”
