14-year-old suspect in thwarted attack on Evergreen Middle School found to have committed conspiracy to commit murder, possession of explosive device

A 14-year-old has been found to have committed three felonies in planning an attack on Evergreen Middle School in Cottonwood.

The trial took place on Wednesday at Tehama County Juvenile Court and concluded in the afternoon.

The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office says the court found the teenager to have committed three felonies, including conspiracy to commit murder, possession of materials with intent to construct a destructive device, and possession of a destructive device.

However, the court did not find the allegations of attempted murder to be true, despite the Tehama County District Attorney’s strong evidence and argument.

The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office says that sentencing for the juvenile is scheduled for October 15 at 11 a.m in Tehama County Juvenile Court. Authorities say the teenager is currently in custody awaiting sentencing.
