Plea deal reached in case against Mason man accused of making explosive devices
Federal investigators have closed the case against a Mason, Ohio, man accused of making explosive devices earlier this year.
Prosecutors alleged James Phillips, 20, was making the devices in a shed behind his parents’ home.
This investigation began in September 2024, when a police officer found an improvised explosive device in the parking lot of the Lebanon Soccer Complex after telling Phillips and another man to leave.
Photos also appear to show Phillips making explosives in a shed in his parents’ backyard on Sentinel Oak Drive, where investigators took him into custody in April.
Phillips was charged with illegal transport of explosive materials and court records show a plea agreement was reached Tuesday.
