A community in shock after Tecumseh teen arrested for allegedly planning a school shooting

A Tecumseh teen was taken into custody after the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about a planned school shooting.

“I just can’t believe it, it’s so close to home,” said Robin O’Bannon, who lives in Tecumseh.

The community was shocked after learning about the teen’s alleged plans.

“Our office received a call from the FBI advising us that they were working on some information that they had received from a social media platform in reference to a threat that was made to an unknown school,” said Captain Jared Strand, with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said once they received the tip, they immediately got to work.

“As soon as we received it, we had a search warrant done, completed, and a person detained within six and a half hours,” said Capt. Strand.
