Man arrested for weapons, threats at Folsom HS arrested again for visiting other school in district

A man who was arrested last month for making threats while on the Folsom High School campus was arrested again on Monday after he was seen at another campus within the district, according to the Folsom Police Department.

Officials said just after 2 p.m., a man who was not permitted on campus was seen at Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary. While Monday was a non-student day at school, there were still people on campus for other activities.

Folsom police said officers swept the area and did not find the man, but through their investigation identified him as Curt Taras, 53.

Taras was out on bail for an incident on Sept. 24, when he was on the Folsom High School campus and made threats. He was found to be in possession of a knife, and a firearm and ammunition were found in his vehicle.

“He made the comment, ‘I could take this school out in 30 seconds if I needed to,'” assistant basketball coach Michael Baker recounted at the time.

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District on Monday said Taras was observed walking briefly on campus, but he had been barred from school campuses within the district.
