Police: 15-year-old arrested; threatened mass shooting at West Melbourne middle school
A 15-year-old Stone Middle School student was taken into custody on Oct. 21 over threats made on a social media platform, where police said he made threats of a mass shooting involving Central Middle School in West Melbourne.
The teen was arrested at his home in Palm Bay after investigators received information from the Melbourne Police Department that the online threats were made over Snapchat, Palm Bay Police Department said in a statement.
“He was a Stone student,” said Janet Murnaghan, spokesperson for Brevard Public Schools. The district has not elaborated on the student’s status.
