FBI aid leads to arrest of Argentine teen planning attack at ex-school

A 16-year-old boy from the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Caballito was arrested over the weekend by Argentina’s Federal Police after the FBI alerted authorities to his social media posts expressing plans to carry out an armed attack at his former school.

The investigation, overseen by Argentina’s Ministry of National Security, began after the FBI office at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires sent a report to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Unit on Cybercrime, La Nación reported.

The report warned about a social media user who had expressed intent to stage a school shooting, prompting Argentine judicial authorities to open an investigation.
