Gainesville man arrested on federal terrorism threat charges for TikTok posts
The U.S. Department of Justice indicted a man residing in Gainesville for threatening people on social media in connection with a known terrorist group.
Arsham Rashidi Dizajgan, 27, a citizen, was arrested on Wednesday in Gainesville. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland unsealed an indictment, charging him with six counts of transmitting in interstate or foreign commerce a threat to injure another person.
Prosecutors allege that while living in Maryland, he posted photos and videos of Americans with upside-down red triangles over their heads. They claim Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization based in Gaza, uses the symbols to mark targets before they’re attacked.
He also posted comments on the videos expressing ill will toward Americans, Christians, Jews, and expressing sympathy for Osama Bin Laden.
