Charges dismissed against two Magna men arrested for hoax weapons of mass destruction

Earlier this year, the FBI investigated an incendiary device placed underneath a news media vehicle and arrested two men from Magna for possessing hoax weapons of mass destruction during that investigation. A third man was later arrested, and now, charges for the two Magna men have now been dismissed.

On Sept. 12, the Salt Lake City Police Bomb Squad and Unified Fire Authority Arson/Bomb Squad responded to reports of a suspicious device placed underneath a news media vehicle in Salt Lake City.

When they arrived, they found that there was an incendiary device and that it had been lit, but it failed to function as it was designed. Due to the public safety threat, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took over the investigation.
