Former Vassar College student allegedly spread bomb threat, active shooter hoax
A former Vassar College student has been arrested and accused of falsely claiming on social media that there was a bomb and an active shooter on the college campus on move-in day in August, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday.
FBI agents arrested Nigel Trenh at his Los Angeles home on Monday in connection with the alleged bomb threat and shooter hoax, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Trenh, whose LinkedIn profile indicates he intended to graduate from the college in 2026, is accused of anonymously posting the false information on Fizz, a social media platform for college students.
