New criminal case filed against man accused of threatening to ‘blow Perryville up’

A man who allegedly threatened to “blow Perryville up” during a phone conversation with a police officer in October and later that day listed the Great Wolf Lodge as one of his targets was back in jail Tuesday night after police re-arrested him in the wake of prosecutors filing a new criminal case, one that includes an additional charge of threat of mass violence, according to Cecil County District Court records.

Police arrested suspect Christopher Giles, 66, of Havre de Grace late Tuesday afternoon, after Assistant State’s Attorney Adam Grott filed a three-count criminal information charging Giles with making an arson threat and two counts of mass violence threat. Each of those three charges is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, court records show.

Enabling the prosecution to file the new criminal case against Giles, the Cecil County State’s Attorney’s Office first dismissed the old one against him earlier this month. The original criminal case against Giles listed two charges, making an arson threat and one count of threat of mass violence.
