16-year-old student faces attempted murder charge in Wootton High School shooting
The 16-year-old accused of shooting a fellow student at Thomas S. Wootton High School in Montgomery County on Monday has been identified as Kahlil White-Villatoro.
White-Villatoro is from Rockville, and will be charged as an adult, according to the Rockville City Police Department.
He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and several firearms charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
A Polymer 80, 9-millimeter handgun was found late Monday night. It was not found at the school. Investigators said the gun was a “ghost gun,” which is a gun that was built privately and not by a manufacturer. Polymer 80 is a company that makes parts for guns, which can be used in constructing a ghost gun.
The Rockville City Police Chief Jason West said the fact that it was a ghost gun was “very” concerning.
