CCSO: Cumberland County elementary school student charged with threats of mass violence

A Cumberland County elementary school student is charged with threats of mass violence after making “alarming statements” to other students, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

CCSO said the threats were made on April 6 by a student at Homestead Elementary, and the District Threat Response Team, consisting of school officials, members of the Crossville Police Department, CCSO and the Office of Homeland Security, helped in the investigation.

No weapons were found and no students were ever in any danger, according to CCSO. The release said the school was able to continue without interruption and there was no lockdown.

CCSo asked the community, students and staff to report any suspicious or potentially threatening behavior related to schools or public buildings.
