Shreveport man arrested for allegedly securing gun Shamar Elkins used in mass shooting that left 8 kids dead

A Shreveport man in his 50s has been arrested for allegedly helping the suspect in the Cedar Grove mass shooting obtain a gun.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana has charged Charles Ford, 56, with felon in possession of a firearm and making false statements to federal agents. These charges are connected to the gun the suspect, Shamar Elkins, reportedly used to shoot and kill eight children and injure two women on Sunday, April 19.

For these charges, Ford faces up to 15 years in federal prison for the possession charge and up to five years for the false statement charge.
