DA: Father and son face charges after throwing explosive device near Lehigh County polling place

A father and son are facing weapons of mass destruction charges after investigators say they threw an explosive device from a truck in Lehigh County.

The attack happened near a church that was being used as a polling place on Tuesday in Catasauqua.

When Pennsylvania State Police arrived, they found what remained of the device that was detonated nearby.

Investigators were able to use surveillance video to track down the duo, 56-year-old Matthew Pletz and 24-year-old Jack Pletz.

Matthew is being held in Lehigh County jail while Jack is still on the run.

“At this point, no information exists to cause the investigators to believe that the incident is related to the polling location,” said Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.
