Pinellas Park man arrested for threats against Largo school, PCSO says

A man from Pinellas Park has been charged with written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting after deputies say he made online threats against a school.

Wednesday, deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office threat management unit arrested 23-year-old Adam Ballou. Deputies say they began investigating after getting information on June 2 about a post on Google Maps where Ballou allegedly wrote “Im [sic] gonna shoot this school up on June 3.”

Detectives claim Ballou made the threatening post referring to Oakhurst Learning Center, located at 102nd Avenue North in Largo. The post was made under the address of the school, PCSO stated.

Through investigative techniques, detectives say they were able to learn the IP address associated with the posting account, which was linked to a specific device and telephone number belonging to Ballou.

When detectives showed up at Ballou’s residence, they say he confirmed the phone number belonged to him, that he was in possession of the device throughout the day and that no one else had access to it, PCSO said. Afterwards, he was placed under arrest.
