Man charged with threat of mass violence at East Carolina University
A man is behind bars after police say he threatened to carry out a mass shooting at one university in Eastern Carolina.
Onslow County deputies arrested Dylan Warbritton Thursday for communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property and resisting a public officer.
East Carolina University police say the 23-year-old, who is not a student at the school, had posted a threat under the university’s Instagram account on Wednesday.
Warrants show that Warbritton threatened to carry out a Columbine-style mass shooting on campus.
As a deputy informed him of his arrest, Warbritton started to pull away and tried to run off, according to court documents.
