Cleveland man with prior terrorism conviction indicted for possessing ricin
A federal grand jury has indicted 34-year-old Brandon L. Baxter of Cleveland, accusing him of possessing the deadly toxin ricin.
Prosecutors say Baxter is a restricted person because of a prior terrorism conviction tied to a 2012 plot to bomb the Route 82 bridge in Macedonia, Ohio.
The indictment charges Baxter with prohibitions related to biological weapons and possession of a biological toxin by a restricted person. Officials say ricin is lethal to humans even in very small amounts. Baxter is scheduled to appear for arraignment October 14 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jonathan D. Greenberg in Cleveland.
