FBI arrests McKinney teen accused of plotting to kill U.S. Rep. Keith Self
A McKinney teenager was preparing to attack U.S. Rep. Keith Self and was also planning a terrorist operation in North Texas for ISIS, according to federal investigators cited in a Wednesday report by Dallas-area television station WFAA.
The 17-year-old was arrested Oct. 5 after acquiring a firearm, federal law enforcement sources told the station. Investigators allege he planned to kill Self at an event last Saturday.
Self has frequently spoken out against Sharia law and Islamic extremism. Last month, he introduced a nonbinding resolution opposing the implementation of Sharia law in the United States.
