Man accused of threatening to shoot crowd at Holly restaurant reopening

Daniel James Gibson, 26, from Holly, has been charged with making a terrorism threat after allegedly threatening to shoot people at an outdoor celebration marking the reopening of a downtown restaurant.

Gibson was arrested on Saturday (Oct. 10) after Holly police responded to reports of threats at an event celebrating the reopening of Andy’s Place Restaurant on Broad Street, according to police and the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

About 100 people were attending the celebration when Gibson allegedly threatened to shoot people at the event, witnesses reported.

Officials said he also reached into a backpack, prompting attendees to call 911.

Gibson then walked toward Crapo Park, where responding officers located and detained him, police said.

Officers recovered a large knife and several containers of alcohol from the backpack.

No firearm was found, according to police.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald announced that Gibson was charged with one count of false report or threat of terrorism.
