Man charged with threat of terrorism over alleged mass violence plot in Muskegon County
A 27-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly threatening mass violence after investigators found suspected pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, firearms and writings detailing his alleged plans.
The man is currently lodged in the Oceana County Jail on unrelated charges.
He awaits arraignment in Muskegon County District Court on charges of threat of terrorism and possession of an explosive device with unlawful intent.
MLive/Muskegon Chronicle is not naming the man pending his arraignment.
The charges stem from an ongoing Michigan State Police investigation that began after a third party reported statements allegedly made by the man about committing an act of mass violence, according to the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office.
That person brought the statements to the attention of the man’s family, prosecutors said.
State police subsequently executed search warrants at the man’s home.
