Orlando man jailed over threats against Jewish community, state says
An Orlando man was arrested after state investigators said he threatened a Jewish community in Florida earlier this month, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
In a release, FDLE officials said the investigation began on Oct. 19 when the agency received information about the man — identified as Jerry Sneed, 31 — posting threatening messages on a social media platform against a Jewish community in Glades County.
“Sneed posted photos of the residential community location and a firearm along with those statements,” the release reads.
In response, state agents worked with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to take Sneed into custody on Wednesday, the FDLE announced.
Investigators also noted Sneed was in possession of the firearm that he posted on social media at the time of his arrest.
Now, Sneed faces charges of unlawful use of a two-way communication device; and written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.
