Ulukhaktok RCMP make arrest after ‘threats alluding to a mass shooting’

Northwest Territories RCMP say they have made an arrest after police in Ulukhaktok received reports of threats alluding to a mass shooting.

Ulukhaktok RCMP received numerous reports on Sunday from concerned citizens saying that someone had posted threats on social media alluding to committing a mass shooting, police said in a news release Tuesday.

Officers went to the person’s house and took her into custody without incident.

They searched the residence but did not find any firearms, and they do not believe the suspect has any access to firearms, police said.

The suspect, a 24-year-old woman, was released on conditions, including a firearms prohibition and a condition not to attend the school in Ulukhaktok, police said.
